Scope:

The energy sector is undergoing major changes, namely regarding new concepts and principles for economic and environmentally friendly operations and planning, technological upgrades, and new forms for end-users’ behaviour. Electricity is a key driver of modern societies, and consumers expect it to be available at every moment of the day. This expectation is kept even considering increasing demand, environmental restrictions, increasing use of non-dispatchable energy sources, technical issues and many other factors that may negatively impact the sector’s efficiency. This energy transition is requiring the entire sector to adapt itself. New operation and business models are required, as well as new infrastructure and new technological means.

Computational intelligence based approaches are of crucial to address major challenges for highly automated and robust operations in a very dynamic, complex, and competitive environment such as the power and energy sectors, especially in a time of accelerated energy transition.

This special session aims at bringing together different experiences in the application of computational intelligence based approaches to power and energy problems, targeting the contribution of the main international experts in the field, both from academia and industry. Although focused on the application domain of power and energy systems, this special session envisages a broad spectrum of computational intelligence based approaches that address some of the most prominent problems in the field.

First Ibero-American Symposium of Master and Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence www.iberamia.org/iberamia/iberamia2022/simdia/ <www.iberamia.org/iberamia/iberamia2022/simdia/> November 4-5, 2021 The 2021 edition will take place virtually due to the Covid-19 situation In the context of the XVII edition of the Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence, the first Ibero-American Symposium of Master and Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence (SIMDIA’2021) will be held as a preliminary activity, which will aim to be a space for socialization, presentation and discussion of academic master’s and doctorate works on different topics around Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Symposium consists of the presentation of research work carried out by postgraduate students (Master’s or Doctorate) with (i) a significant contribution to knowledge or (ii) presenting innovative experiences in the different areas of AI. The works submitted will go through a peer review and those accepted in the evaluation process will be presented. There is a scientific committee made up of researchers from the different AI areas and with the support of the different societies that make up IBERAMIA. The selected works will have a time of 15 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of questions. According to the results of the selection, there will be specialized rooms by areas (tracks). Papers can be submitted and presented in English, Spanish or Portuguese. In addition to the presentations of the selected works, there will be some plenary conferences in the context of the Symposium. The works to be presented are framed in the following research areas:
• Knowledge Engineering, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning under Uncertainty • Agent technology and Multi-Agent Systems. Argumentation. • Planning and Scheduling. Heuristics and Metaheuristics. Robotics. • Computational Intelligence & Soft Computing. Cognitive Modeling, Cognitive Systems • Natural Language Processing. Computer vision, Pattern recognition • AI in Education, Affective Computing and Human-Computer Interaction. • Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Big Data, Knowledge Discovery, Data Mining • Ambient intelligence. AI of Things. Humans and AI, Human-Aware AI. • Game Theory and Interactive Entertainment. In the first case, they must have been submitted after January 1, 2018.
*Guide to authors* Submitted articles should be between 3 and 5 pages long and should reflect progress with a certain degree of maturity. They must clearly identify what is the expected contribution, contrasted with other previous works and the proposed methodology. They must indicate the status of the Thesis and main findings. When required, the results obtained will be presented. www.iberamia.org/iberamia/iberamia2022/simdia/ <www.iberamia.org/iberamia/iberamia2022/simdia/> The submission that students must make for the master’s and doctoral symposium consists of two elements:

The letter should be sent by mail directly to the chairs of the Master’s or Doctoral Symposium, respectively: simdia.maestria@iberamia.org <mailto:simdia.maestria@iberamia.org>, simdia.doctorado@iberamia.org <mailto:simdia.doctorado@iberamia.org>. The recommendation letter should include the current status of the research, as well as the expected date for completing the research and conducting the dissertation. 2. An article describing the investigation. The author of the article should only be the student and, if desired, the tutor. The length of the article will be 5 pages maximum (2 more pages are allowed for references) and must contain clearly defined:
a) The problem to be solved in the investigation; the rationale for why the issue is important. In addition, it should be made clear what the previous research that supports it is. In the case of a doctorate: why the problem to be solved is innovative and show that it has not yet been solved.
b) The objectives or hypotheses of the investigation.
c) The expected contributions of the research, including a discussion of the related work.
d) How students plan to evaluate the results and present the evidence of those results to the community (outreach),

Instructions for authors
Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts (in pdf format) written in English by the deadline via the conference online submission system (Easychair). All submissions will be refereed by experts in the field based on originality, significance, quality and clarity. All contributions must be original, should not have been published elsewhere and must not be submitted elsewhere during the review period. Papers should be within 8 pages but must not exceed 12 pages, and must comply with the format of Springer LNCS/LNAI Proceedings (see www.springer.com/lncs).
Short Papers To encourage emerging results and novel initial developments, especially from PhD students and young researchers, we accept short papers of 4 – 6 LNCS pages. Short papers may be submitted a few days after the deadline. Such papers will also go through our vigorous peer-review process for its novelty and soundness with a much quicker turn-around time. Although short papers are mainly for the main track, they can be submitted to one of the Special Sessions too. Paper submission for IDEAL 2021 is via Easychair: easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ideal2021
Call for Workshops and Special Sessions
Special Sessions In addition to the regular sessions, there are a few special sessions devoted to emerging topics and areas with growing attention – see IDEAL 2021 website for details of approved Special Sessions. Researchers and prospective organizers, should you interested propose a new Special Session, please submit a one-page proposal as soon as possible to IDEAL Pagramme Committee Co-Chairs [atallon@us.es], including the following information: • The title of the special session. • The organizers with their affiliations. • A description of why the topic is of special interest and how it fits to the scope of IDEAL. Each special session preferably consists of four or more presentations. Special sessions receiving less than 4 papers will be merged into the main track.
Workshops Workshops focus on new and emerging topics. In contrast to special sessions, workshops should include an introductory talk or tutorial on the topic and will have final discussions at the end of the workshop. Apart from the introductory talk in the discussion, Workshops should preferably include six or more additional presentations. Researchers or prospective organisers are invited to submit a one-page proposals for workshops to the conference address [atallon@us.es].
